 Police Warn of Scam Involving Fake Police Foundation The Fayetteville Police Department is warning residents of a scam involving phone solicitors who claim to be representing a Police Foundation and accepting “donations” under false pretenses. The name the suspects are using is The Officers Down Foundation and most reports indicate that the phone numbers are coming from a (727) area code in Florida. If you receive phone calls from someone claiming to be from this organization, please take down the information and report the incident to the North Carolina Attorney General’s office at www.ncdoj.com. Police advise that you should only make donations to charities that you have researched or are familiar with.  

The name of the legitimate foundation that supports the Fayetteville Police Department is The Fayetteville Police Foundation, located at the Police Department on  467 Hay Street. The contact person for the Foundation is Robert Grover, Executive Director and he can be reached at 910-423-3731.
